DRIVER JAILED FOR ALLEGED DUII, FOLLOWING FREEWAY INCIDENT

The driver was jailed following an alleged DUII incident on Interstate 5 Sunday night.

An Oregon State Police report said just before 8:00 p.m. a northbound pickup about a mile south of the Winston interchange was reported to be swerving on the roadway leading to other drivers believing that that the operator was impaired. It was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen out of California.

A trooper caught up to the vehicle and it exited at the south Roseburg off-ramp at milepost 120. The vehicle was pulled over in that area. When contacted, a strong odor of alcohol was found coming from the motorist, who admitted to drinking.  The driver had no identification on him and was placed into custody.

A DUII investigation was performed and the driver did poorly on the test, providing, a blood alcohol level of .03. The 37-year old driver was charged with DUII and for unauthorized use of a vehicle. He was detained without bail.
