Feeding Umpqua will have the 4th annual Empty Bowls on October 11th.
A release said like many things, this year’s event will look a little different. There will be no in-person soiree where neighbors gather to taste a variety of soups at the United Community Action Network’s warehouse. Instead people will have the opportunity to choose their own bowl, pickup a gift basket, and enjoy a meal in their homes.
The pickup party will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Joyce Morgan Distribution Center on Kenneth Ford Drive. Each ticket holder will get to pick out a handmade/painted bowl and receive a branded tote bag loaded with goodies. Those will include dry soup mix, a loaf of fresh-made bread and a dessert from Lighthouse Center Bakery and Café, a gift certificate for a bowl of soup from a partner restaurant, a bottle of Umpqua Valley wine and a door prize ticket. The cost is just $35.
