A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of southern Oregon from 11:00 a.m. Monday through 11;00 p.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said daytime highs of 95 to 103 degrees are possible, with reduced overnight cooling.
The Advisory area includes the valleys and low-lying areas west of the Cascades including communities in the Umpqua, Illinois, Rogue, and surrounding valleys as well as exposed areas in the western Cascades foothills.
Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
