UMPQUA NATIONAL FOREST MOVES TO STAGE 1 RESTRICTIONS/HIGH FIRE DANGER

With unseasonably hot and dry conditions, officials with the Umpqua National Forest will raise the fire danger level from “low” to “high” with Public Use Restrictions moving to Stage 1 effective Friday.

In PUR’s Stage 1, all campfires are prohibited outside of Forest Service-constructed fire rings in designated recreation sites under a Forest Order.

A UNF release said that prevention is the strongest defense against human-caused wildfires. Visitors and local communities are urged to take extra precautions.
