The Oregon Health Authority’s COVID-19 Weekly Report, released last Wednesday, showed a continued sharp increase in daily cases and hospitalizations.
OHA reported 8,304 new daily cases of COVID-19 during the week of Monday August 2nd through Sunday August 8th. That represented a 40 percent increase over the previous week.
There were 322 new COVID-19 hospitalizations, up from 256 last week. That marked the 5th consecutive week of increases.

There were 40 reported COVID-19 related deaths, up from 25 reported the previous week.
OHA said there were 119,416 tests for COVID-19 for the week of August 1st through 7th. The percentage of positive tests increased to 9.5 percent.
The COVID-19 Weekly Outbreak Report showed 53 active COVID-19 outbreaks in senior living communities and congregate living settings, with 3 or more confirmed cases and 1 or more COVID-19 related deaths.
