A Florida man was hurt in a single vehicle wreck on Wednesday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 4:45 p.m. the crash was reported in the 1000 block of Shively Creek Road between Canyonville and Days Creek. A witness reported that they had been behind the vehicle and said it was going way too fast prior to the wreck.

The report said the deputy that responded saw evidence that the driver had lost control while trying to negotiate a corner. There were tire marks on the pavement for about 50 feet and the sedan had skidded on the shoulder for another 25 feet before it hit the bank. The vehicle scrapped the bank for approximately 30 feet and rolled 2 and a half times before stopping upside down.

The report said the driver complained of back pain. The 23-year old was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center via ambulance. He was later taken to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical at Riverbend in Springfield, and was in serious condition at last check.

The driver was cited for reckless driving.
