107 more people have received new positive test results for COVID-19 in Douglas County, and 1 presumptive was moved to positive with a positive test result, as of Friday.

That is the highest number of local cases in one day, since the pandemic began.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Recovery Update said 1 case was removed from the tally as they were not a resident of Douglas County. The total number of cases is now at 4,980. Of those, 4,754 are people that have received positive test results and 226 are presumptive. There have been 94 deaths. 31 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 27 locally and 4 outside the area. 640 people are in isolation. 410 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 1,050 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 18 people since Wednesday.

The Thursday recap said 71 more people received positive test results, with 3 more presumptive.

The update said Douglas County is breaking records daily and not in a good way. As of Friday, this week saw 478 new COVID cases, with one more reporting day to go.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said, “Sadly, there is a tremendous amount of new COVID disease and spread everywhere you look. Unfortunately, I do not think we have seen the full impact of this surge yet. The rampant surges are so unnecessary and getting out of control.”
