A vehicle wreck early Tuesday was blamed on a deer.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 12:20 a.m. a sedan was traveling northbound on Interstate Five about a mile from the summit of Roberts Mountain. The driver said a deer entered the roadway, causing her to swerve as she tried to miss it. The vehicle struck the deer and then hit the concrete median.

The report said the driver was unable to control the vehicle and it crossed over and left the roadway on the east side. The sedan came to rest on the east shoulder adjacent to the roadway.

The vehicle had to be towed from the scene. The driver was given a citation.
