Crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association and Riddle Rural Fire Department responded to a natural cover fire on Thursday afternoon.

Kyle Reed of DFPA said the fire was reported at around 3:20 p.m. near the 4,100 block of Riddle-By-Pass-Road. The 41 Fire was a half-acre in size when firefighters arrived. Crews stopped the forward spread of the fire at three-quarters of an acre of grass and brush.

Reed said a preliminary investigation indicated that the cause of the 41 Fire may have been related to an escaped debris burn. Additional personnel and equipment from the Myrtle Creek Rural Fire Department, Tri-City Rural Fire Department and the Canyonville-South Umpqua Fire Department also responded to the incident.
