COMMUNITY ACTION POVERTY SIMULATION EVENT NOVEMBER 12TH

October 26, 2026 3:30 a.m.

The United Community Action Network, Bright Futures Umpqua and Aviva Health are holding a Community Action Poverty Simulation event on Monday, November 12th

A UCAN release said the free event plans to build a greater understanding, examine bias, transform perspectives, and initiate crucial conversations about the community’s needs.

To promote poverty awareness, attendees will experience a simulation where people will walk a month in the shoes of someone facing poverty whose basic needs are not met. That could be a single parent, elderly person, or young adult with incarcerated parents for example. The event is intended to increase understanding and inspire local change. After the simulation, attendees will unpack their learning and brainstorm towards community change.

The Community Action Poverty Simulation begins at 9:00 a.m. and will take place at Aviva Health at 150 Northeast Kenneth Ford Drive in Roseburg.
