Roseburg is expected to see a near record high temperature for the date on Monday, making it one of the hottest days of the year to this point, but cooler weather is ahead for the rest of the week.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury is expected to reach 97 degrees on Monday. The record high for August 24th is 100 degrees, set in 2025. The hottest days of the year have been June 15th, and August 15th and 16th when it got to 99 degrees. The normal seasonal temperature for this time of year is 85 degrees.

Forecasters said the one-day of heat is due to a high-pressure trough and a thermal trough moving inland. Southwest flows are forecast to start on Tuesday leading to a gradual cooling trend. Thursday through Sunday highs should drop to below normal, averaging 80 degrees.
