Roseburg Police charged a man with second-degree counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief on Saturday.
An RPD report said at 2:50 p.m. officers contacted 56-year-old Walter Byers and a 49-year-old woman regarding a previous incident where Byers had allegedly damaged a lock to the shed at a business in the 1800 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, then took items from inside. The woman was reportedly at the business after hours but was not involved in the burglary.
Byers admitted to the burglary and the woman admitted to being at the business after hours. Officers recovered stolen property from the business at the couple’s camp. Byers was not taken to jail, due to medical complications. The woman was cited with second-degree criminal trespass.
