TWO LOCAL BUSINESSES WORK TO JUMPSTART AMERICA 2026 IN ROSEBURG

June 9, 2026 3:50 a.m.

Two local businesses are working to jumpstart America 250 in Roseburg.

Umpqua Valley Funeral Directors and Premier Insurance have provided 250 American flags and information on their care to present to local households. These flags were folded by the Roseburg Sea Scouts, and each bag will include a flag and instructions.

The community is invited to the Roseburg High School parking lot on West Harvard Avenue this Saturday, June 13th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to receive a flag and an information guide.

As part of this event, organizers will also begin collecting items for a time capsule that will be placed on the day after Veterans Day, later this year. Plans are to open the capsule up in 10 years. Items could include family or class group photos, works of art from local students, local sports team photographs, stories about local events, or small momentos. Perishable or illegal objects will not be accepted.

Other community groups will be on hand on Saturday to help kick off the lead up to the nation’s birthday as well. That includes members of the Roseburg City Council, Lane House Historical Society, Elks Lodge, City of Roseburg Fire Department, and members of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.

Anyone with questions about the event can call David Hopkins at 637-8153.
