A Cottage Grove man was jailed following a vehicle theft and reckless incidents on Friday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 8:15 p.m. a victim contacted dispatch and said that 39-year-old Jeremy Farris had stolen a car while it was left in running in the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Rainey of Drain. The resident said he knew that Farris was not supposed to be there. While the man was leaving with the vehicle he reportedly drove recklessly and hit the owner of the car in the arm with the vehicle as he fled on Rainey Drive.

The Lane County Sheriff’s Office later located the sedan, and it was returned to the owner. Ferris was eventually found and taken into custody. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and for a probation violation. Ferris was detained without bail.
