Local drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes as the southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp at Exit 129 Del Rio Road will be closed Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Dan Latham of ODOT said emergency services will be accommodated, but drivers of all other vehicles are advised to use alternate routes to reach Interstate 5 southbound.
Latham said during the closure, contractors will place concrete barriers along the entire centerline of southbound I-5 near the interchange. The barrier is intended to protect workers when nighttime bridge repairs begin next week.
Latham said the speed limit has been reduced to 50 miles per hour in the southbound direction of the freeway through the work zone. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, use caution, and watch for workers and construction vehicles.
Southbound I-5 will be limited to a single ten-foot lane on weeknights from Sunday evening through Friday morning from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. through the end of June. Latham said southbound wide loads will have to depart the freeway at Exit 129, detour onto Del Rio Road and Garden Valley Road/Boulevard and return to the freeway at the Exit 125 Garden Valley interchange.
