Aviva Health Public Health Program Coordinator Alyson Pinkleman received the Oregon Public Health Association Emerging Leader Award last week.
An Aviva release said it is given to an individual who demonstrates leadership, innovation and creativity.
At Aviva Health, Pinkleman coordinates the Reproductive Health and School-based Health Center programs. She also established and co-facilitated a Youth2Youth model group at Phoenix School of Roseburg and Youth Action Council at Roseburg High School.
Aviva Health’s events coordinator Melissa Owens nominated Pinkelman for the award. Owens said “Alyson has made such a profound impact on the community in the short time she’s been here at Aviva Health”. Owens said, “We’re all incredibly proud of her work and lucky to have her as a colleague”.
Pinkleman also serves as a leader on the Douglas County Tobacco Policy Committee, and Aviva’s Day Care Project and Health Safety committees. She was also recently asked to help provide public health education to Aviva Health’s resident doctors during their community health rotations.
The release said Pinkleman’s community involvement includes working with the Douglas County Creating Community Resilience Team and the Prenatal Task Force.
Two of the four OPHA award recipients are from Douglas County. Dane Zahner of HIV Alliance received the organization’s Health Equity Champion Award.
