Steve Loosley has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Roseburg in the November General Election.

A release issued Wednesday said Loosley is running on a platform focused on building a better community for Roseburg residents.

Loosley said, “I’m running for mayor to start a new conversation in Roseburg, one focused on supporting families, backing our local businesses, and bringing people together”. Loosley said, “I am convinced that by working together, we can build a better future for everyone who calls Roseburg home”.

Loosley said he is a lifelong Roseburg native whose deep roots in Douglas County are reflected in his enduring commitment to the community he calls home. A co-owner of Loosley Development, Loosley said he has built his professional career entirely in the region.

Steve Loosley has been married to his wife Shelley for more than 44 years. He is a graduate of Oregon State University, Western Seminary, and the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Current Mayor Larry Rich was first elected to the position in 1998. He has not announced his intentions.

The deadline for an elected incumbent to turn in their documentation is August 18th
