TRIBAL FISHERIES PROGRAMS EXPLAINED AT FISHERMAN’S ASSOCIATION MEETING

Two fish biologists with the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians will present their Tribal Fisheries programs at the Umpqua Fishermen’s Association member meeting on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Abby’s Pizza Annex on Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg.

A release said Travis Mackie and Colby Gonzales will discuss the Tribe’s restoration projects and how those restorations will benefit local fisheries. Their program will also show the involvement in the hatchery operations of the Tribe.

Mackie has been the fish biologist of the Tribe since 2016. Gonzales was the Senior Fish Hatchery Technician at the Rock Creek Hatchery, and in September of last year became a fisheries biologist of the Tribe.
