A trough of low pressure and a cold front will bring light to moderate showers to the Umpqua Valley Thursday night and Friday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain is expected Thursday night around Roseburg. Locations at higher elevations could see half to three quarters of an inch of moisture. Along with the showers, Friday may experience mid-day thunderstorms before party sunny conditions emerge.

The weather system will also cause afternoon high temperatures to drop to nearly fifteen degrees below normal for this time of year, with highs only in the mid-60s on Friday and Saturday. Gradual warming will begin on Sunday, but highs are forecast to stay below normal through at least Tuesday.
