Winston City Manager Thomas McIntosh said city officials are “very disappointed” in the response from the U.S. Postal Service to concerns about mail delivery issues that they recently raised.

After sending a letter to Congresswoman Val Hoyle and copying it to other federal representatives regarding issues with the mail service in the community, the city has received only one letter of response from the U.S. Postal Service, which now considers the issue as “closed”.  Mayor Christie Knudson’s recent letter said city staff had received a significant number of complaints concerning the mishandling and mis-delivery of mail and packages. McIntosh told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that, “Given the magnitude of the problem and the public outcry, the citizens deserve a more thorough investigation along with a detailed plan on how to improve the deficiencies in the mail delivery process”.

McIntosh said the city will not be giving up and will continue to communicate with state and federal representatives in order to achieve a better outcome for Winston.
