Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association are completing mop-up of the north side fire near Sutherlin.

A DFPA update said at approximately 3:00 p.m. responders from DFPA, Sutherlin Fire Department, Fair Oaks Rural Fire Department, Oakland Rural Fire Protection District, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a 3- acre grass fire located near the 2000 block of North Side Road.

Due to quick response, the forward spread of the fire was quickly knocked down. The fire was confirmed to be 5.53 acres in size when mop-up began. The cause of the North Side Fire remains under active investigation.
