Hot temperatures are headed to the west coast by Sunday, with the Umpqua Valley forecast to see highs near 100 degrees for at least two days.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that a high-pressure system remains offshore but is expected to nudge in over a wide area from California to Seattle, Washinton by this weekend. This should lead to the hottest temperatures of 2026 so far for the Roseburg area.
Forecasters said highs will be in the mid 80’s Thursday and Friday and the low 90’s on Saturday. For Sunday and Monday, afternoon temperatures should get close to or hit the century mark in Roseburg. Forecasters said heat advisories are likely, with the unusually high temperatures coming nearly a week before the official start of summer.
Monday will drop to the mid 90’s with a low-pressure system lowering highs to the mid 80’s by next Wednesday.
The mercury reached 75 degrees on Wednesday at the Roseburg Regional Airport.
