FIREFIGHTERS SUPPORT MDA WITH FILL THE BOOT DRIVE ON FRIDAY

June 3, 2026 4:00 a.m.

The International Association of Fire Fighters will have crews from the Roseburg Fire Department and Central Douglas Fire & Rescue collecting donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in the annual Fill the Boot Drive on Friday.

Firefighters will hit the street with boots in hand asking pedestrians, motorists, customers and other passersby to donate to MDA on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Southeast Stephens Street and Southeast Washington Avenue in downtown Roseburg.

The historic partnership began between MDA and IAFF in 1954 when the association adopted MDA as its charity of choice. Over the past seven decades, fire fighters have raised more than $721 million for MDA, helping fund over $1.1 billion in research. These contributions have fueled significant advancements in medial research, including the development of more than 30 Food and Drug Administration approved treatments for neuromuscular disease since 2015.

Scott Cooper of the City of Roseburg Fire Department will talk more about the local effort on the Morning Conversation Thursday at 8:30 a.m. on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN.
