MYRTLE CREEK MAN JAILED FOR WARRANT THURSDAY NIGHT

January 17th,  2025

A Myrtle Creek man was jailed for a warrant on Thursday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 10:10 p.m. a deputy saw a four-wheel drive vehicle pass him on Park Street headed north in the Riddle area. The deputy knew that a 48-year-old man was associated with the vehicle and had an active warrant for his arrest.

The driver took off westbound on Fifth Street, clearly trying to get away from the deputy. The deputy lost sight of the vehicle as it turned onto Maple Street but located it unoccupied at the corner of Maple Street and East Fourth Avenue.

Eventually the driver came walking back to the vehicle after the deputy called out for him to come out from hiding. The warrant was confirmed, and the man was taken into custody without incident. The driver was also allegedly in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.

He was jailed for the warrant and was cited for unlawful possession of meth. The man was detained on $5,000 bail.
