Roseburg Police cited a man for prohibited weapons in parks on Thursday.

An RPD report said at 4:30 p.m. officers contacted the 40-year-old at Deer Creek Park in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street. The man reportedly had a katana style sword in his waistband. The man had been warned about having swords in parks approximately two weeks prior. The sword had an approximate 18-inch blade on it. Any blade over 6 inches is prohibited by a new city ordinance.

The man was cited and released on the scene and the weapon was confiscated.
