A Roseburg man was jailed following a reported hit and run incident on Friday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 7:30 p.m. the 53-year-old returned to his home in the 5700 block of Northeast Stephens Street in Winchester after allegedly drinking at a friend’s house. His family reportedly began to argue with him as his license is currently suspended for multiple DUII incidents. The man got mad and got into his pickup. His family chased after him to prevent him from taking off.
The man crashed his pickup into two vehicles owned by family members. One family member got the man out of his pickup to prevent him from continuing. The man walked to a nearby bar to cool down. Deputies found him drinking at the bar after they arrived.
The man was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and failure to perform the duties of a driver in a hit and run accident with property damage. He was detained without bail and was released on Sunday.
