Covering coastal Douglas County:
A Washington State man is believed to be missing.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 5:40 p.m. Tuesday night, a deputy responded to the 900 block of Bridge Road in the Elkton area after a caller said someone was missing. A reporting party stated a man named Pedro Villanueva had had been missing for about a day after mushroom picking on Bureau of Land Management land.
The 29-year-old’s last known location was near the three-quarter mile-marker on Bridge Road. The reporting party said he and another person had located Villanueva’s mushroom bucket by a creek.
While investigating, a driver stopped his vehicle and said he gave Villanueva a ride to a nearby hotel near Reedsport. The deputy later determined that someone at the hotel took Villanueva into Reedsport and dropped him off at a mushroom picking building. The missing man was seen at another business in Reedsport, before he possibly headed to Lakeside.
Pedro Villanueva could still be in the Reedsport area. He is known to have black rain gear on along with brown boots. Oregon State Police, Reedsport Police, and Search and Rescue have been notified about the investigation.
