Roseburg Police cited two women for second-degree child neglect, following an incident on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 4:00 p.m. officers responded to apartments in the 100 block of Sunshine Road after residents located a three-year old boy roaming the area with no supervision. After about an hour, someone believed they recognized the boy and thought they knew where he lived.

Officers went to the boy’s residence and contacted his parents, who were both unaware that their son was gone. The Department of Human Services was called to the scene and a safety plan was put into place. The women were released after being cited.
