RIDDLE MAN JAILED FOLLOWING ELUDE INCIDENT

A Riddle man was jailed following an alleged elude incident early Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 1:00 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a 1983 motorhome for traffic violations on Interstate 5 northbound near Riddle. The vehicle exited the roadway and blew the stop sign before turning onto Stanton Park Road. It continued onto Yokum Road toward Riddle even after having multiple opportunities to pull over.

The report said the motorhome would slow in the corners and then accelerate to approximately 55 miles per hour in the straight stretch. A pursuit was initiated and continued into Riddle before the driver pulled over in a parking lot.

67-yearold Donald Zenchenko was identified as the driver and found to have a felony -warrant. Zenchencko said he didn’t stop because he knew he had a warrant until he realized he would not outrun law enforcement. He was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving and for the warrant. Zenchencko was cited for no valid operator’s license and driving uninsured. He was detained without bail.
