Winston Police jailed a man following a high-speed chase that started late Sunday night.

A WPD report said just before 12:00 a.m. Monday, officers attempted a stop on a motorcycle near the intersection of Brockway Road and Lookingglass Road for traffic violations.  The driver, later identified as 44-year-old Roy Abbot, reportedly attempted to elude police and sped, at times, over 100 miles per hour all the way to Strickland Canyon Road where the motorcycle ultimately crashed.

Abbott was allegedly found to be in possession of 2.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine. He was cleared from CHI Mercy Medical Center with a minor injury to his knee. Abbott was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, unlawful possession of meth and resisting arrest. He was detained without bail.
