An elderly man was taken to the hospital following a head-on crash on Saturday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 1:50 p.m. a 22-year-old driver was traveling north in his sedan on old Highway 99 North near Del Rio Road when he failed to maintain his lane and his vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The sedan struck a minivan head on. The second driver, an 81-year-old-man, was transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center.

The driver who caused the accident was cited for careless driving and failure to maintain his lane.
