Roseburg Police cited a man for prohibited camping early Tuesday.

An RPD report said 2:35 a.m. officers contacted the 39-year-old at his camp at Riverside Park in the 500 block of Southeast Spruce Street. The man’s camp consisted of hung-up tarps and blankets from the trees in a prohibited zone.

The man said he was aware of the city ordinance but thought he was “close enough” to “the point”. The man agreed to pickup his stuff and leave the area. He was released after being given the citation.
