Roseburg Police arrested a man in two theft cases over the weekend.
An RPD report said on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. 40-year-old James Geisler unknowingly messaged officers on Facebook Marketplace and agreed to sell them stolen tools. Geisler met officers on the Interstate Five exit 113 off-ramp at Clarks Branch Road with the tools and admitted to multiple thefts. A woman with him also admitted to being involved in the thefts. Geisler was charged with two counts of first-degree theft and three counts of second-degree theft and was detained. The woman was cited with two counts of first-degree theft and was released.
On June 10th, officers responded to Walmart in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway after an employee said there had been a theft. During the investigation, officers learned that Giesler had allegedly stolen over $300 worth of tools from the store. Officers met with the man Sunday, as he was already in jail. Geisler admitted to taking items from the store. He said that some of them had already been sold. He was charged with theft in the first-and-second degree.
Geisler remained held without bail.
