Two people were taken to the hospital following a wreck on Wednesday, with a 94-year-old driver cited for the accident.
A Roseburg Police report said at 4:00 p.m. Weyland Phillips was traveling west on Northeast Oakland Avenue in a Corvette and allegedly attempted to quicky cross Northeast Stephens Street without fully stopping at the stop sign. At the same time a pickup driven by a 61-year-old was traveling south on Northeast Stephens. The Corvette collided with the pickup, causing it to flip onto its top. ‘
Phillips was extracted from the Corvette and was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for minor injuries. The other driver was also taken to Mercy, and had minor injuries as well. Both are no longer in the hospital.
Phillips was cited for having no operator license, driving uninsured and careless driving. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The crash closed southbound Northeast Stephens for a time, with one lane of northbound traffic able to get through the area.
