ART OF PREVENTION CONTEST SEEKING YOUNG ARTISTS

February 15, 2024 3:15 a.m.

The Prevention and Education Program of Adapt Integrated Health Care is seeking young artists for its Art of Prevention art contest.

An Adapt release said it’s an opportunity for youth to express their understanding and experiences of substance misuse, suicidal ideation/self-harm, problem gambling/gaming, and/or resilience through artwork, utilizing the medium of their choice. The artwork serves as a therapeutic outlet where difficult feelings and emotions may be more easily expressed than through conversation.

Youth in grades 6-12 are eligible to enter up to 3 art pieces into this year’s contest. Artwork must portray a prevention message and be submitted by the contest deadline of April 8th to qualify for judging. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded based on artwork creativity and the inclusion of a positive prevention message.

Contest entries will be displayed at the Art of Prevention art show on May 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Adapt Integrated Health Care on West Madrone Street in Roseburg. Artists are encouraged to stand alongside their artwork during the show.
