The Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College presents UCC’s Visual Art Faculty show of 2024 starting soon.

A college release said Susan Rochester, Greg Price, Noelle Herceg, and Tiffany Hokanson collaborate in this 4-person show highlighting their personal practice and development while teaching college art courses at the school.  This exhibition features a wide array of artwork, including fine art books, sculpture, ceramics and printmaking.

It will run from February 12th through March 13th. A public reception and artist talk will take place on March 7th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This year marks 22 years of teaching for Susan Rochester. This year she will be retiring as Umpqua Community College’s Arts and Humanities chair and Associate Professor of Art. During her tenure at UCC, she has taught Art History, Photography, Painting and Book Arts. Rochester said, “My tunnel book series consists of pieces requiring painstaking detail work using sharp blades to excavate cavities in vintage books, and to cut around the edges of images I recombine to craft the content”. Rochester said, “It is exacting – a slip of a dulled knife can destroy a concept immediately”.

The Art Gallery is at the Whipple Fine Arts Center. Viewing hours are weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
