UMPQUA NATIONAL FOREST ISSUES WINTER CLOSURE ORDERS

February 5, 2024 6:55 a.m.

On Thursday, staff with the Umpqua National Forest issued two forest orders that prohibit the use of motorized vehicles, including over-snow vehicles, on National Forest Service Roads 4795-380 and 4786-600, as well as on the Mt. Bailey Nordic Trail No. 1451 and Mt. Bailey Summit Access Trail.

Brittany Burnett of the UNF said the closure orders will mostly impact snowmobilers around Mt. Bailey and the Hemlock Cabin areas.  Burnett said the purpose of the orders is to mitigate unnecessary risks on forest roads and trails and protect public safety.

The orders are effective through April 30th unless rescinded sooner. More information can be found at www.fs.usda.gov-umpqua.
