UCC EMERGENCY MEDICAL STUDENTS CONDUCTING AIR AMBULANCE TRAINING

Umpqua Community College Emergency Medical Services students will be conducting a Helicopter Emergency Medical Services class training on May 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A UCC release said the class will include a helicopter landing on the campus adjacent to the Technology Center.

The HEMS training teaches students when air medical services are utilized and how to safely interact, communicate and operate with air medical aircraft and crew.

Throughout the spring term students will take part in exercises including Simple Triage and Rapid Transport, Mass Casualty Incident training, utilizing the National Incident Management System and Incident Command System.

Students will have the opportunity to incorporate what they have learned from the May 8th training at an additional training which also includes a helicopter landing, on June 8th.
