A Roseburg area man was jailed following an alleged assault incident early Tuesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 2:30 a.m. a victim texted 911 and said the 27-year old had assaulted her in the 200 block of Timberlake Avenue, just north of Roseburg. When a deputy responded, the suspect answered the door and said nothing was wrong. He was reportedly hesitant to get the victim and kept trying to close the door.

The victim said the man had slapped her repeatedly, causing substantial pain to her face and ears. The man denied ever touching the victim. Probable cause was developed and the man was taken into custody.

He was charged with fourth-degree assault and was detained without bail.
