ROSEBURG CITY COUNCIL HAS FIRST MEETING OF 2023

The Roseburg City Council had its first meeting of the year on Monday night.

Mayor Larry Rich delivered the State of the City Address. Rich covered what he thought were the highlights of 2022. That included the first phase opening of the Gary Leif Navigation Center, a proposed update to the city charter, the opening of a new Roseburg Visitor Center, hundreds of camps being removed from city properties, and the 150th birthday for the city. Rich also covered highlights from each department in city government.

Rich appointed councilors to lead each city commission for this year.

Councilors made reappointments to commissions and to the Budget Committee.

Andrea Zielinski was selected as the council president for the year.

Councilors adopted an ordinance amending the Roseburg comprehensive plan map and zoning map for property on Northeast Garden Valley Boulevard.

The meeting concluded at 7:43 p.m.
