CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS PARKING ENFORCEMENT SERVICES

September 26, 2022 3:40 a.m.

The Roseburg City Council will discuss parking enforcement services in the downtown area at its meeting Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

Last month the council was advised that ACE Parking, which was awarded the contract for parking enforcement services last December, is failing to generate enough revenue to cover the cost of its contract. Staff is recommending that the council authorize having broken parking meters removed and the working meters centralized. In addition, staff is asking for direction on additional revenue sources the council may want to pursue to ensure the program can continue. Staff is also suggesting that councilors authorize that an additional $50,000 in American Rescue Plan Act Funds be allocated to support the Off-Street Parking Fund.

Councilors will consider first reading of an ordinance that would allow for the mayor and council members to be reimbursed at a flat rate of $50 per month for internet service and $50 per month for cell phone service. This would cost the city $10,800 per year and would be absorbed into the administrative department’s budget.

Mayor Larry Rich will issue a proclamation for the City of Roseburg’s Sesquicentennial, which is October 3rd. Rich will also have a proclamation designating September 26th as Crossroads Day in honor of the Crossroads Residential Treatment Program, which is part of Adapt Integrated Health Care.

Other items are on the agenda as well. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chambers. It can be viewed on the city’s Facebook page or viewed later at www.cityofroseburg.org.
