ROSEBURG SCHOOLS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR VACANT BOARD POSITION

Roseburg Public Schools is accepting applications from local residents that are interested in serving out the remainder of the Position 3 Board of Education term, which expires on June 30th, 2025.

The seat was formerly held by Vice Chair Howard Johnson, who resigned last month. Johnson had served on the board since August of 2015. Johnson told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that he had no comment regarding his decision to resign.

Applications will be accepted through 4:00 p.m. on May 16th. The board is expected to interview candidates at a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. on May 20th at the district’s Central Office. Applicants are encouraged to attend. The appointed member will be sworn in at the May 22nd board meeting at Green Elementary School.

To be eligible for appointment, a candidate must be a registered voter, have been a resident of the district for one year immediately prior to the appointment, and not be an employee of RPS.
