COVID-19 CLAIMS 35 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL AT 5,814, AS OF TUESDAY

COVID-19 has claimed 35 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 5,814, as of Tuesday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 8,040 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 486,202.

OHA said with a record number of cases recorded and the spread of the Omicron variant, Oregonians are being asked to ease the burden on health systems and emergency rooms. Those looking for non-emergency COVID-19 treatment, should contact a doctor or an urgent care clinic.

OHA said the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 727, which is 35 more than on Monday. There are 138 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is unchanged from Monday.

The new cases include:

*1,345 in Multnomah County

*1,109 in Washington County

*919 in Deschutes County

*820 in Clackamas County
