On Friday, the Oregon Senate Republican Caucus elected Senator Tim Knopp as the new GOP leader.

Knopp replaced Senator Fred Girod, who reportedly stepped down for health reasons.

Knopp said, “I want to thank Senator Girod for his leadership over the last year and a half. He has been a strong conservative champion for Oregon Republicans. He will be missed in leadership, but he is doing what he believes is best for his health, and I support him”. Knopp said Republicans have a great opportunity to showcase their ideas and vision as a viable alternative for “…decades of failed Democratic leadership in Oregon”. Knopp said he looks forward to serving the caucus.
