Two men were jailed after allegedly eluding police on Tuesday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 4:15 p.m. a deputy was traveling north of Willis Creek Road near Winston when he saw a pickup traveling in the other direction committing traffic violations.

When the deputy turned around, the driver accelerated at a high rate of speed. He was going between 80 and 90 miles per hour according to the report. The vehicle was allegedly failing to maintain its lane and was cutting corners. When the deputy caught up to the vehicle, the driver refused to yield but eventually pulled into a driveway in the 100 block of Raleigh Drive.

The deputy detained the driver, Tyler Bryant, for eluding. As the 30-year old man was being placed in the deputy’s vehicle, the passenger allegedly became agitated and jumped into the pickup and drove it further onto the property so that it was concealed from the deputy’s view. After additional deputies arrived, the passenger was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed 5 grams of methamphetamine.

Bryant was charged with attempting to elude police, driving while suspended and for unlawful possession of meth. The passenger was jailed for interfering and tampering with evidence. He was released on Wednesday. Both were released on Wednesday
