ROUGH PATCH COMPLEX GROWS BY OVER 1,100 ACRES

The Rough Patch Complex has grown by over 1,100 acres and is now listed at 47,215 acres.

An update from the Great Basin Incident Management Team 2 said Tuesday’s warm and dry air resulted in increased fire activity, however there was limited uncontrolled fire growth on the complex. Fire personnel took advantage of favorable conditions to successfully conduct controlled fire operations on the northeast side of the fire area. Those operations removed unburnt fuel in challenging sections of the Chaos and Little Bend Fires. The update said that work will significantly increase the probability of securing these areas in the coming days.

The Chaos Fire has grown to 26,284 acres while the Little Bend Creek Fire has risen to 9,087 acres. Crews conducted firing operations and connected fire line between the 3829 and 2640 roads. Firefighters utilized direct and indirect tactics to construct line between Horse Heaven Creek and the 3829 Road. This line will help limit northerly fire growth in this drainage. Fire line was constructed between the 3818 and 310 roads to help secure the east side of the Little Bend Fire by using explosives to safely remove hazard trees that cannot safety be removed with chainsaws or mechanical equipment.

Containment lines on the Jack Fire and the Buckhead fires are holding on the west, north and northeast perimeters and the focus of the work is shifting to fire line rehabilitation and repair.

Containment on the Rough Patch Complex remains at 36 percent while containment on the Jack Fire is still at 55 percent.
