YOUNGEST COUNTY RESIDENT TO DIE OF COVID-19 REPORTED

The youngest person to die of COVID-19 in Douglas County has been reported.

6 more people have died related to COVID-19in the county, 293 more people have received new positive test results, and more 4 are presumptive, as of Friday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Update covered information reported Thursday and Friday.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the new deaths include:

*A 26-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 12th and passed away on Wednesday. He was not vaccinated. Previously, a 27-year old had been the youngest county resident to die of the virus. Other deaths reported are:

*A 45-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 24th and passed away on Wednesday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 67-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 26th and passed away on Wednesday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 64-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 26th and passed away on Wednesday. She was not vaccinated.

*A 74-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 20th and passed away on Wednesday. He was not vaccinated.

*A 65-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 13th and passed away on Wednesday. He was fully vaccinated.

The update said the total number of cases is now at 9,225. Of those, 8,932 are people that have received positive test results and 293 are presumptive. 110 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 75 locally and 35 outside the area, including 2 that have been transferred out of state. 15 ventilators are in use and 15 BiPap machines are in use. 12 COVID positive patients are in the Intensive Care Unit. 104 out of the 110 are not fully vaccinated.
