ROUGH PATCH COMPLEX/JACK FIRE UPDATE 8.11.21

8/11/2021 10:30 a.m.

The Rough Patch Complex of fires, burning east of Glide, grew nearly 1,000 acres overnight to 4,765 acres.

In the most recent update from Northwest Incident Management Team 13, fire officials say the complex is still 3% contained.

The Umpqua National Forest’s Wolf Creek Hotshots joined the fire suppression efforts on Tuesday.

While the update says current fire activity remains moderate, crews are preparing for a likely uptick in fire behavior due to forecast hot, dry weather.

In addition to fire-line preparation, crews are working to create defensible space around infrastructure in the forest, including bridges, lookouts, and trail shelters.

Crews are also utilizing protective structural wrapping to deflect flames and embers from the structures.

The Jack Fire, burning 10 miles from the Rough Patch Complex, is now at 23,386 acres, and is 53% contained.

The Umpqua National Forest is currently under Industrial Precaution Level 4, prohibiting all commercial forest operations.

Public Use Restrictions remain at a Level 3. This prohibits any open flames, smoking, operation of internal combustion engines, and any motorized travel off of designated roads or trails.
