EVACUATIONS UPGRADED TO DUE WILDCAT FIRE

August 3, 2021 9:40 a.m.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has upgraded evacuation notices as a result of the Wildcat Fire, burning off of Upper Cow Creek Road near Azalea.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell said based on information provided to DCSO from U.S. Forest Service managers, all homes on Upper Cow Creek Road starting at 20039 through 20700 are under a Level 3 “GO” evacuation notice.

O’Dell said Level 3 “GO” means leave immediately. Danger to that area is imminent and residents should evacuate immediately. Those who choose to ignore this advisement must understand that emergency services may not be able to provide further assistance. Residents should not delay leaving to gather any belongings or make efforts to protect their home or any structure.

O’Dell said homes on Upper Cow Creek Road with addresses from 18300 to 20000 are under a Level 2 “Be Set” notice. Level 2 “Be Set” means residents should be prepared to leave at a moments notice. This level indicates there is significant danger in the area, and residents should either choose to voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if they choose to remain, be ready to leave at a moment’s notice.
