3 MORE DEATHS, HIGHEST CASE NUMBERS OF PANDEMIC, IN COUNTY

3 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, as the county had the highest number of cases in one week since the pandemic began, last week.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer said the 89th death was a 71-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 19th and passed away on July 30th. Dannenhoffer said the 90th death was a 78-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 30th and passed away on Saturday. The 91st death was a 70-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on July 10th and passed away on Sunday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Recovery Update said 38 more people have received new positive test results for COVID-19, as of Monday. The total number of cases is now at 4,664. Of those, 4,445 are people that have received positive test results and 219 are presumptive. 27 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 22 locally and 5 outside the area. 421 people are in isolation, 479 people are in quarantine. That means the staff with the Douglas Public Health Network are supporting 900 people that are either in isolation or quarantine. That is an increase of 164 people since Friday.

The weekend recap said on Saturday 67 more people received new positive test results for COVID-19 and there were 4 more presumptive. That is the highest number of cases in one day since the start of the pandemic. On Sunday, 23 more people received new positive test results for COVID-19 and there was 1 more presumptive. Between Sunday July 25th and Saturday July 31st, the county had 327 cases of COVID-19, which is the largest number of cases of any week during the pandemic.
